Fuzzy summer adventures: Part 1

Summer is drawing to a close (though I’m very sad to see it go!!) and now is the time of cool breezes and pumpkin spice. I’m excited about several projects I have coming up that I would love to blog about – such as me actually investing some time into Halloween decorations this year – but for now I’d like to reminisce on some of the more… adorable parts of summertime.

A couple of months ago we noticed what distinctly looked like a nest on our balcony. I’d thought it was something I had overlooked when we first moved in or something, never expecting that it be newly built. But sure enough, the next day… I saw the eggs!

The next few weeks were filled with excitement! This little morning dove hadn’t built her nest hidden or high up – the metal grate of our little balcony suited her just fine and so we had a great view of the nest.

We had a little bird buddy for a while as she spent many hours a day sitting on her nest, never flying away even when we walked by the window (although we really tried to leave her alone as much as possible to not freak her out). She was a good mama 🙂

Even more magical were when the eggs finally hatched! It was so cool to be able to watch these two little nuggets grow up. So fuzzy and cute!

It was bittersweet when the little ones finally left the nest. I remember getting up one morning and the babies were starting to head out onto the metal grate of the balcony away from their bed, their parents close by.

I got ready for work and by the time I took another peek, they were gone.

I was sad to see them leave! On the other hand… we get our balcony back 🙂 And have some great memories of it all – it was a seriously cool experience to be able to witness the miracles of nature in such close proximity.

Not to mention… we were soon to have another adorable animal friend. 🙂
